Teaching Ethics: Moral Awareness in a Deregulated Business World
The new presidential administration is predicted to make things easier for business by rolling back years of governmental regulation. As much as they were sometimes disliked, regulations helped define what actions were permissible and which ones were thought to be harmful. How will a deregulated business environment affect the ethical decision making of businesspeople?Using a behavioral ethics framework and a series of video clips of both famous and ordinary people, this session will engage participants in a demonstration of how organizational members use cognitive biases and self-deception to keep from recognizing and responding to ethical concerns.
