Team teaching an interdisciplinary study abroad class: Innovations in course design and collaboration

Keywords: Team Teaching; Course Design; Study Abroad

Abstract: Countless studies have indicated that study abroad courses offer meaningful and impactful learning experiences for university students. Accordingly, when it comes to course design, it is essential that the study abroad is carefully planned, executed and delivered in order to maximize the benefits for students. In this session, we will highlight a recent interdisciplinary short-term study abroad course that was team taught by the presenters. Innovations in course design, format, and content will be addressed. In addition, we offer attendees a course design model that is generalizable and may be used for interdisciplinary study abroad courses at other universities.
