Experiential Learning: The Power of Case Research In The Teaching of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Abstract: The Learning Pyramid model that was developed by the National Training Laboratory shows the types of teaching/learning techniques that are most likely to be retained by learners. The participative teaching methods that include discussions groups, learning by doing, and the teaching of others contribute to an average of 50%, 75%, and 90% retention rate as opposed to passive teaching methods that include lecturing, reading, audio-visual, and demonstration that contribute to about 5%, 10%, 20%, and 30% respectively. Thru the use of cases, this session focuses on the impact of research-based cases on the teaching and learning of the subjects of diversity, equity, and inclusion at work.
