Insights Into Multidimensional-Fit (mdf): Student Reflection and Empathy-Building Through The Lens of The Refugee Employment Journey

Abstract: The refuge crisis has global implications across a spectrum of disciplines. For management majors in business schools, insights into the refugee crisis represent opportunities to discuss and reflect on topics such as transferability of knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs), Person-Organization Fit (P-O Fit), Person-Vocation Fit (P-V Fit), Person-Job Fit (P-J Fit), and Person-Team Fit (P-T Fit), as well as the corresponding management practices (corporate culture, socialization, training, etc.). This exercise allows faculty to guide students through reflection and empathy-building by discussing the refugee employment journey. It also allows faculty and students to consider service-learning opportunities to support refugees and immigrants.
