Diversifying Our Inclusive Dei Vocabulary

Abstract: BIPOC, genderfluid, size-inclusive, ally, codeswitching, exceptionalism, transphobia - How many of these terms do you know? Due to the rapidly evolving nature of social identity, if faculty, staff, and administrators hope to create an inclusive learning environment, it would be beneficial for them to become familiar with the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) terminology. In this round table, we intend to raise awareness of the importance of this topic and provide participants with greater knowledge of its ever-expanding vocabulary. The discussion will broadly consider the implications for proactively learning and integrating diversity terms in the classroom.

Keywords: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Social Identity
