What’s In A Name? Rethinking Student Introductions


Abstract: Abstract: We all want to make the first day of class exciting and engaging! This activity saves you from going around the room and asking students their name, major and why they are in the course. Inspired by the 2017 “Say My Name” project at Columbia University, the “What’s in a Name?” first-day activity engages students in a discussion of their diverse backgrounds through meaningful self-introductions.
