Experiencing Street Art: Activity In The Point Neighborhood of Salem
Authors:
Keywords: street art, visual arts, experiential learning
Abstract: Street art is an underutilized art form which educators could harness towards provoking students’ curiosity and interest. We can use it to teach complex content in a visual manner, to the benefit of English-language learners, first-year and first-generation college students, and neurodiverse students, as it connects content to everyday experiences without text-heavy methods. Our field is ripe for opportunities to bridge content to the dynamic artistic world. As a means of building more engaging and challenging class experiences, this walking tour discussion in The Point neighborhood of Salem, will empower participants to utilize street art to speak to workplace concepts.
