I Can'T Get No (pay) Satisfaction: An Experiential Exercise
Authors:
Keywords: Pay Satisfaction, Compensation, Experiential Learning
Abstract: This exercise examines the concept of pay satisfaction by having students critically evaluate the results of a pay satisfaction survey. The exercise aligns with courses in human resource management, compensation, and organizational behavior at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Working in groups, students examine the quantitative and qualitative results of a salary survey to draw conclusions about employee satisfaction with pay. Students speculate on how the four dimensions of pay satisfaction may impact the organization’s ability to attract, motivate, and retain workers. They also make recommendations for improving pay satisfaction.
