Abstract: The management curriculum generally centers around knowledge established in research using well designed research paradigms that are often retrospective of the time when the research was conducted. Students learn heuristics, routines, processes, and theories that become a means for “fast thinking.” However, the business environment is continually changing, often rapidly and unpredictably. As a result, students may not have the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to “think slow” in the dynamic environment they may encounter. This Professional Development Workshop will consider current trends that may require slow thinking and how to help students develop this set of skills.
