Abstract: This PDW will help participants reimagine how a course can be not just started but launched using an immersive “thought experiment.” A well-crafted thought experiment sets the tone for a course and immerses students in the depth and breadth of a topic and its importance within and beyond the course. This workshop is for attendees wanting to explore new ways of teaching from the first minute of a course and is suitable for early career, mid-career, and experienced faculty.
