Vuca Inoculation: We Need A New Normal For Building Elastic Organizations

Abstract: Complexity is the new normal, but the mindsets required to meet it are not. Yet effective mindsets and elastic organizations which thrive amidst complexity can be found outside the workplace. A case study of a player organization within a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) massively-multiplayer-online (MMO) game illustrates these mindsets and organizations. Starting with key elements from the case study, participants will face challenging questions to engage in a three part “WorldCafe” facilitated discussion and generate concrete, actionable ways to bring effective organizational behavior found outside of work into the classroom and thence, the workplace.
