Abstract: We discuss the need for embedding research into coursework to facilitate working adults pursuing graduate degrees. We further argue that the application of artificial intelligence can support the effectiveness and efficiency of research and is a necessary component of curriculum that seeks to prepare students for the contemporary work environment. We discuss efforts across 3 graduate programs to emphasize research while being sensitive to time limitations of the working adult population. We provide examples of flexible assignment design that provides students with ample opportunity to engage in research and how artificial intelligence augments the work further improving processes and outcomes.
