Evidential: Launching a faculty reading group to cultivate evidence-based pedagogy
This Roundtable Provocation examines the potential of and results from a faculty learning community centered on educational psychology. Reflecting on a reading group exploring How Learning Happens, I’ll look at the impact of collaborative engagement with seminal research on teaching practices and student outcomes. 1. Did shared inquiry into learning science shift pedagogical approaches? 2. How did rotating leadership and structured discussions contribute to translating theory into practice? I invite participants to examine challenges and successes of fostering faculty development initiatives aimed at bridging the research-practice gap and cultivating a culture of continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
