Drawing from Concrete Experiences to Prompt Student Active Experimentation: An Onboarding Example

Drawing from Kolb’s (1984) experiential learning cycle and Morris’s (2020) recent review, this presentation will showcase a course exercise that encourages students to draw from their own concrete experiences moving towards active experimentation. The exercise utilizes knowledge from team effectiveness research and includes five submissions: team charter, presentation, group meeting, individual reflection paper, and team paper. This session will provide participants an opportunity to engage in a limited version of the exercise and gain insight into practical applications of the team project in the classroom.
