Using Movies and Television Shows to Underscore the Interconnectedness of Organizational Behavior Topics: An Experiential Assignment

We overview an experiential assignment designed to push students to reflect upon how the combination of themes covered in an introductory organizational behavior course help us better understand how people perceive and react to complex situations. Working in small groups, students select a short clip from the movie or television show of their choice, formulate a reflection question that integrates at least two themes covered in the course, then lead a short class discussion. Our experiences with the exercise over the Fall 2024 semester suggest that it engaged students and helped them to apply the course material in innovative ways.
