Promoting Shared Leadership and Equity in the Team Project Experience

Team projects enable students to learn valuable leadership and team-building skills; however, teams are often left to their own devices to self-manage, and disparities in team member contributions are common. The purpose of the session is to enable participants to help students develop shared leadership skills in team projects, while promoting equitable student contributions and facilitating effective evaluation of teams and individual members. Through group discussion and an experiential exercise, attendees will explore common dynamics that play out within project teams and obtain skills and tools to set teams up to establish and hold themselves accountable for shared goals.
