(Re)move the chains: “Forward progress” in teaching employee empowerment and trust utilizing the National Football League

This exercise presents an engaging pedagogical approach to teaching undergraduate or graduate Organizational Behavior or Principles of Management courses through the use of video clips from the Netflix show, Quarterback, which follows three quarterbacks in the National Football League. By analyzing clips from the show, students explore the impact of employee empowerment and voice on employee motivation, creativity, and commitment. Student feedback for both in-person and online modalities was positive, with students enjoying the interactive and engaging nature of the activity. Student feedback, sample debrief questions, and learning objectives are provided.
