MANAGING MANAGEMENT EDUCATION FOR VALUE: ACADEMIC RIGOR AND ACCOUNTABILITY IN THE AI AGE

For 65+ years, academicians and practitioners have called for increased rigor in business education. Additionally, with a shifting political regime critical of the value of higher education, rapid advancements in AI, and declines in the college-going rate of high school graduates, management educators cannot afford to pretend that the status quo will remain so. Rather, these pressures from key stakeholder groups—employers, public officials, prospective students, the academy—warrant attention. This session will explore how we can build rigor and provide accountability for learning to enhance the value of our courses and programs in this context of dramatic change.
