Teaching for Sustainable Engagement: Mindfulness and Attention in Management Classrooms

This symposia panel invites management educators to examine mindfulness as a pedagogical capacity central to cultivating attention, self-regulation, and sustainable leadership development in management classrooms. Rather than framing burnout solely as an individual deficit, the session explores how classroom norms, participation expectations, and pedagogical practices may inadvertently undermine student engagement, learning, and long-term flourishing. Through dialogue among organizational behavior and leadership educators and structured participant engagement, attendees will reflect on how teaching practices shape students’ learning experiences and leadership formation. The session aims to generate concrete pedagogical insights and foster a collaborative space for reimagining management education in ways aligned with core values.
