SUCCESSION! A Role Play to Hire a New CEO at a Family Business

This succession planning role play has students form a selection committee to determine who should be hired as the next CEO of Cascadia Outdoors. Each person in the selection committee represents a different department within the organization and has secret motives on who they would like to see be the next CEO. Students review their stakeholder’s motives before enacting the committee meeting where they collectively determine who to hire. Afterwards, students debrief the activity by applying what they learned about succession planning in family businesses. Participants in this session will engage in the role play and debrief the activity.
