Laughter and Lessons: Recruiting Prospective Business Students Through The Office

This session in the inspiration category on pop culture in the classroom will showcase an introductory course which explored the world of business through the hit TV show The Office. It was designed to encourage first-year students to consider studying business. Classes were centered around episodes of TV show, and lessons were reinforced with academic and practitioner articles. Participants will review the curriculum, discuss the benefits and challenges of using pop culture in the classroom, and participate in two interactive assignments. Prior knowledge of The Office is helpful but not needed to learn from the session.
