Leveraging generative AI to enhance self-assessment in management education utilizing personal SWOT analysis

This experiential exercise integrates generative artificial intelligence (AI) with a structured personal SWOT analysis to enhance self-assessment and career planning in undergraduate management education. Grounded in Human Capital Theory (HCT), the exercise frames career planning as a strategic process in which students author and refine their career plans with the support of generative AI. Results across four undergraduate courses (N ≈ 110) indicate increases in AI confidence, perceived workplace preparedness, and course engagement. Designed as an interactive, hands-on activity, this exercise is adaptable to all modalities and across business disciplines.
