Introducing the House of Cards Challenge to Teach Organizational Citizenship and Counterproductive Work Behaviors

This session introduces a team-based challenge that aids student learning of organizational citizenship and counterproductive work behaviors through experiential learning gamification. The design of this activity is theoretically supported with management theories on job performance, as it prompts students to act out organizational citizenship and counterproductive work behaviors while working in teams to build a house of cards. Session participants will experience the activity first-hand. Then, the facilitator will debrief the activity as they would with students. Finally, the facilitator will walk through the design of the activity so that participants can repeat it in their own classrooms.
