One More Time, We’re Going to Iterate: A Simple and Repeatable CLC Activity

This experiential exercise challenges teams to sort a deck of cards under numerous constraints to foster collaborative problem-solving. Students work in small teams to make decisions quickly, yet intentionally, to complete the task successfully. Modifying the activity constraints and characteristics of the teams and cards allows the activity to be repeated throughout the semester and across modalities (i.e., in person and online) to extract deeper learning and reinforce the iterative nature of problem-solving and feedback – a core tenet of the Collegiate Leadership Competition. The activity is simple, quick, and easily modifiable allowing it to be debriefed from the lens of numerous frameworks.
