Adventures in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The purpose of this session is to share my experiences with artificial intelligence in teaching. Over the summer, a former student with extensive AI experience developed a week of lectures and activities for one of my classes; I will share these slides and materials. I will describe a class project and present sample student work in which students choose from a class-generated list of AI activities, complete those activities, and summarize their experiences and outcomes. For more than three decades, I have collected extra-credit, optional, three-page student-feedback memos. ChatGPT analyzed the most recent memos, identifying teaching strengths and weaknesses and proposing a six-step improvement process.
