Power, AI Literacy, and Organizational Politics: A Teaching Case on Generative AI

This teaching case examines how the use and promotion of generative AI in the workplace, without a clear organizational policy, shape workplace dynamics. The case follows Jim, a senior domain expert who discovers at the last minute that a high-stakes client deliverable created by a politically connected colleague appears to be an AI slop. Jim must decide whether to quietly fix the work, challenge the colleague and delay the report, escalate concerns to leadership, or remain silent, with each option carrying professional, political, and ethical consequences. The case is suitable for Organizational Behavior courses.
