Avatar in use: Enhancing Online Business Management Education

This session introduces the use of human‑controlled avatars as an inclusive and engaging alternative to webcam‑based participation in synchronous online business management education. Drawing on Cognitive Load Theory, Social Presence Theory, Self‑Determination Theory, and Transformative Learning Theory, the workshop demonstrates how avatars may reduce anxiety, support attention consistency, and foster interpersonal skill development. Participants will experience avatar‑mediated interaction, explore its pedagogical applications, and discuss strategies for implementation across diverse learner groups. The session demonstrates how avatars can enhance motivation, confidence, and meaningful interaction as a practical approach to improving online management education.
