Are Students Ready for AI Generated Feedback?

As faculty report high rates of burnout and artificial intelligence (AI) seeps into higher education, faculty may be looking to see how AI can save them both time and effort. AI-generated feedback is one potential avenue. However, the question remains on if students are ready for AI-generated feedback. This is particularly important in light of recent literature that indicates transparency in AI may decrease trust and students may have a bias against AI-generated feedback. This roundtable discussion will focus on faculty’s use of AI-generated feedback and their perceptions of student readiness. We will discuss risks, opportunities and transparency associated with AI-generated feedback. The purpose of this discussion is to explore a new way of thinking about student feedback, with the tools at hand.
