From the Classroom to the Conference Room: Designing an Experiential HR Capstone Through Consulting-Based Projects

This Professional Development Workshop demonstrates how to design and deliver an experiential HR management capstone course built around real-client consulting projects. Grounded in experiential learning and professional identity development, the course is designed to help students navigate complex, ambiguous organizational problems while integrating knowledge from across the HR curriculum. Participants will explore how consulting pedagogy shifts students from a student mindset to an HR professional mindset by emphasizing critical thinking, applied problem-solving, teamwork, and executive-level deliverables. The workshop provides a transferable framework that can be adapted to HR and other business capstone courses.
