Committed in Chaos: Educators’ Core Values in an Era of Constant Change
In an era of rapid change in management education—marked by advances in instructional technology, heightened political and social polarization, shifting student expectations, and increased emphasis on satisfying metrics—educators often face pressure to adapt in ways that challenge deeply held core values. This roundtable invites participants to shift the focus inward, examining not students’ values, but their own: the principles that initially drew them to teaching and continue to guide their pedagogical choices. Rather than treating values as abstract ideals, the discussion centers on moments when values are tested—when instructional decisions feel constrained by institutional demands, public discourse, or concerns about professional risk. Drawing from scholarship on professional identity, values-based leadership, and reflective teaching practice, the session creates a structured space for candid, collegial conversation about how educators negotiate these tensions while remaining grounded in integrity and purpose. Participants will leave with a clearer articulation of their core values and practical strategies for enacting and sustaining those values consistently amid ongoing change.
