Asia’s Reemerging Roots: Teaching Leadership and Cultural Reversion in a Post-Globalization Era
Across Asia, rapid modernization once symbolized convergence toward Western management models, yet recent evidence reveals a resurgence of indigenous values in leadership and education. Drawing on regional findings among East Asian managerial professionals during the post pandemic era, this paper explores how cultural re traditionalization influences leadership education. The analysis highlights shifts toward collectivism, hierarchy, and moral authority in societies such as China, Japan, and South Korea. It proposes pedagogical, methodological, and data level innovations for integrating indigenous philosophies with modern management instruction. These insights align with the International MOBTS 2026 Conference at Kansai Gaidai University (June 16 18, Hirakata, Japan) session “Teaching Non Western and Indigenous Management in the Classroom.”
