Teaching with AI, Rooted in Values: Practical Strategies for Ethical and Human-Centered Learning

As generative AI reshapes teaching practice, educators face a central tension: how to innovate without eroding the human core of learning. This Professional Development Workshop (PDW) translates insights from a companion case study into hands-on, values-based teaching strategies. Grounded in mentorship, inclusion, transparency, critical thinking, and ethical reasoning, participants engage in experiential activities comparing NotebookLM, Claude, and ChatGPT. Through structured critique and dialogic reflection, attendees examine how values function as design constraints shaping judgment, accessibility, and accountability. Participants leave with practical frameworks, a completed Values-Based AI Teaching Design Canvas, and adaptable activities for ethical, human-centered AI integration.
