Teaching Through Crisis, Conflict, and Change: How Management Educators Navigate Critical Events From the Classroom

Critical events, including global crises, political polarization, and campus-based conflict, are increasingly shaping management classrooms as persistent teaching conditions rather than isolated disruptions. Drawing on pedagogical scholarship, this session examines how management educators have historically responded to critical events and identifies key limitations of prevailing approaches. Through facilitated discussion, participants will reflect on shared teaching challenges, consider suggested strategies, and collectively explore future directions for successfully navigating conflict and crises in the management classroom. The session supports educators in navigating sustained disruption while remaining pedagogically grounded, responsive, and effective.
