Demonstrating Teaching Excellence in Non Traditional Academic Roles

Abstract This roundtable explores how institutions can more effectively recognize and evaluate teaching excellence among faculty in non‑traditional academic roles. Drawing on complementary frameworks—including Kirkpatrick’s New World Model, SoTL, Communities of Practice, equity‑minded evaluation, and reflective practice—the session examines strategies for documenting impact beyond classroom‑based metrics. Participants will discuss mentoring approaches, evidence‑rich documentation methods, and pathways for advocating equitable recognition in promotion and tenure processes. Through collaborative dialogue, attendees will collaborate on adaptable practices that honor the diverse instructional contributions shaping student learning across higher education.
