How Business Schools can Help with Higher Ed’s “Man Problem”

Business schools sit at the center of higher education’s “man problem”: for a variety of reasons, men are now a minority in college overall, yet business remains their most common major and one of the few fields where they are not underrepresented. Those of us in management are well-positioned to improve male enrollment, persistence, and retention. This session sets the stage for a discussion of the “man problem”, with opening remarks from a dean and faculty members sharing their institutional and classroom-level ideas for ways to offer appealing programs for everyone, especially men. Participants will collaboratively generate actionable strategies to engage and retain male students through experiential pedagogies, program design, and recruitment messaging.
