Experiencing leadership in a Virtual Reality: How to create and use VR in the classroom
Keywords: Virtual Reality; Leadership; Technology;
Abstract: This session introduces an open access Virtual Reality (VR) leadership simulation to support business schools in their quest to develop inspirational leaders. The simulation puts students in the shoes of a management trainee who experiences how a supervisor navigates challenging times by focusing on the organizations mission, vision, and values. Throughout the simulation, the leader follows the five practices of the leadership challenge and displays the characteristics of an ethical leader. Participants in this session get to see a volunteer play the VR simulation and can also play a computer based version on their laptops (Mac and Pc). In addition, the author will also discuss the challenges and opportunities he and his team faced when developing the VR simulation. Hence, this session should be of interest to educators who would like to use VR simulations in the classroom or develop their own.
