Leveraging AI in the Classroom

Keywords: artificial intelligence, course design, plagiarism

Abstract: In this session, we report on proactive uses of AI tools for improving student engagement, limiting unethical practices, and leveraging available tools. We will discuss some free or low cost AI tools available to students which students can use to proactively engage with class activities. By explicitly incorporating AI tools in class activities we hope that students will be less inclined to leverage these technologies in unacceptable ways such as plagiarizing. By providing a brief catalogue of available tools and providing suggestions to educators for their use, we hope to facilitate the integration of AI in the classroom.
