Teaching Appreciative Inquiry: An Experiential Approach

Abstract: Because of its flexibility and accessibility, Appreciate Inquiry (AI) is an approach that lends itself to being a powerful classroom experience. Through experiential learning approach, this AI exercise allows students to learn multiple concepts in parallel. In addition to learning the AI 4-D Cycle, they experience a positive approach to organizational change and a whole systems approach. Students can compare the traditional medical model of change with an approach that is new to them. The exercise always leaves student participants surprised and energized.
