Abstract: Generative AI is being used in the education industry and has quickly gained a significant influence in academia. Generative AI tools are now used widely for teaching, learning, and research purposes. AI tools for teachers and students are growing in popularity. According to a Forbes survey in December 2023, 60% of educators use AI in their classrooms. This submission discusses how instructors create projects in human resource management classes to help students with job search by utilizing generative AI tools. More specifically, students are required to use generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) in the job search process such as researching companies that students want to work for, making sense of job descriptions, enhancing students’ resumes and cover letters, optimizing students’ LinkedIn profiles, preparing for interviews, and drafting communication emails to HR, etc. Throughout the practice, students learn how to use generative AI tools in the job search process and gain a better understanding of the benefits and limitations of these tools. These types of classroom activities provide students an opportunity to investigate the use of generative AI tools, explore their potential uses, and also realize their limitations. Students become more informed and learn how to be more responsible users of generative AI tools.
