Students Reflect On Values: A Character Assessment Drawn From A Military Academy Leadership Course Is A Marketing Curriculum Innovation At Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

The panelist will discuss using a values assessment activity derived from a U.S. Coast Guard Academy leadership class to develop two marketing courses at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. In the marketing courses, students are required to use the assessment as part of an assignment in which each student produces a written work. This use of the assessment is an innovation in pedagogy, as it engages with students in a creative manner that crosses both institutional boundaries and academic disciplines. The author seeks to engage with others in a discussion on character development and its potential usefulness in other subject areas.
