How Helpful Is Generative Ai With Making Hiring Decisions? An Experiential Exercise

This hands-on experiential learning session seeks to answer the question raised in the title: How helpful is generative AI with making hiring decisions? In this session, participants choose between three final candidates to fill an open supervisor position at a hotel and vote for their chosen candidates by physically moving around the room. A rigorous debate follows about the assumptions participants are making about their selected candidates. As part of the activity, prompts are entered into three generative AI tools to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each final candidate and to make hiring recommendations. The results from the AI tools are discussed, and the pros and cons of using generative AI in the hiring process is thoroughly debated.
