Balancing Meaningful Assessments and Faculty Grading Workload

This roundtable provocation will discuss trying to find the balance between creating high-quality, impactful assessments that do not also increase the faculty’s grading workload. The session will discuss ideas from the literature and encourage participants to share their own ideas on what has worked well for them. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to redesign one of their assessments that takes a lot of time to grade and/or they dislike grading by applying what was learned in the discussion. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss their redesigned assessment and get some support and feedback from peers.
