The Blindfolded Obstacle Course In A Blended Zoom and Bricks & Mortar (hybrid) Classroom

Class-related changes due to COVID-19 have left educators looking for meaningful use of technology to support student interaction. Courses designed to improve interaction skills struggle incorporating live-contact online members (Zoomers) with bricks & mortar classmates. Students in the University of Central Missouri’s Fall 2020 Leadership class developed and delivered a blindfolded obstacle course activity where Zoomers guided their in-class partners through an obstacle course. The pursuant leadership discussion focused on obligations of remote employees, leading in a remote environment, and enabling others to act by fostering collaboration and strengthening others; however, discussion questions are customizable based on instructor need.
