What Management Students Need to Know to Become Hiring Managers

Abstract: Talent acquisition is often included in the content of management and OB courses. But what topics should be included in management and OB courses to help students prepare to become hiring managers in the future? This qualitative research study of 48 individuals with extensive experience as hiring managers revealed several topics and subjects that they wished they had known before they become hiring managers. The study’s findings provide practical suggestions of assignments and activities that could be added to management and OB courses to help students develop the skills required as hiring managers.
