Abstract: Traditional human resource management education has been criticized for its detachment from real-world business dynamics and overreliance on theoretical frameworks. This has implications on the perceived employability of students graduating from higher education institutions. An emerging area in higher education is authentic assessments, which could meet the needs of the industry for work-ready graduates. The core premise of this roundtable provocation centers around exploring the need for authentic assessments in human resource management courses, challenges therein and discussing potential solutions to embrace authenticity as a linchpin of effective learning and assessment for better student outcomes.
