Entrepreneurial Training for developing an Entrepreneurial University.

Keywords: entrepreneurial mindset, training, university

Session Type: SoTL

Abstract

In response to dynamic competitive environments, Australian universities are increasingly shifting their focus towards developing an Entrepreneurial University, where universities work closer with industry and government and contribute positively to economic and societal goals. Prior research highlights the benefits of training to develop entrepreneurial university, through training students, industry personnel and academic staff to become more entrepreneurial and innovative (Benzanilla et al., 2020; Cerver Romano et al., 2020). Current literature, however, typically does not describe training University leaders and administrators. These administrators are often the first point of contact for students and often influence university agendas and funding in entrepreneurial initiatives, making them critical gatekeepers and influencers. This research evaluates a training series targeting administrators focusing on entrepreneurial tools to assist in developing entrepreneurial mindsets that shape their work and further opportunities to build the entrepreneurial university agenda within university settings.
