Leadership-In-Action: A Recent Graduate of The U.s. Coast Guard Academy Adds Insights To A Collaboration Between Faculty From The U.s. Coast Guard Academy, Norwich University, and Northwestern Oklahoma State University
This panel adds the perspective of a recent graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy to an ongoing research project developed by military and non-military faculty at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in the Fall of 2022. Presently, the main panelists include four faculty members drawn from the USCGA, Norwich University, and Northwestern Oklahoma University, each of whom are using leadership development activities from the USCGA and Norwich University in their own classrooms. A recent graduate of the USCGA will take part in the panel to present: (i) their experience(s) as a cadet taking part in USCGA leadership development activities and (ii) the extent to which that development transferred to their first role after graduation as a Deck Watch Officer for the U.S. Coast Guard. Our aim is to engage conference attendees and educators in an honest and open discussion around leadership development in the classroom—and beyond.
