“A Class Divided”: A Lesson In Bias and Discrimination

During this session, I will present a video analysis activity that illustrates how certain biases could lead to discrimination and the subsequent impact on people from emotional, cognitive, and performance perspectives. The video depicts an actual footage of an experiment conducted in the 1970s in a third-grade classroom in Iowa, USA. The 50-minute activity is used in my Organizational Behavior class, in both face-to-face and synchronous online formats, when the topic of decision-making is discussed.
