Interdisciplinary Knowledge Integration In Sustainability Development Education - A Student Activity

Sustainability Development Education is increasingly being recognized as means to solve today’s growing global issues. With more research pointing towards the importance of sustainability education, there is a growing pressure on educational institutions to incorporate this specialised education programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels. An important aspect of solving complex problems is the integration of knowledge from different disciplines. However, achieving interdisciplinary knowledge integration is a challenge that hasn’t been addressed well in the literature. In this paper we present two activities that demonstrate to students the relevance of different disciplinary perspectives and provides them a structure to integrate disciplinary knowledge.
