"Let’s Just do It and Be Legends, Man": The Case of The (disastrous) Fyre Festival
Students today need applicable, interesting, and relevant business cases to support their engagement and learning. In this session I will discuss how I developed a case study about the Fyre Festival to teach students about business ethics. Marketed as a luxury music event for wealthy Millennials, the festival was a spectacular failure, and its founder was sentenced to prison. Educators can supplement the written case material with videos available online, which helps to maintain students’ attention. Students readily engage with this case and learn that not all entrepreneurial ventures have a happy ending.
